Description
In the square courtyard, between the two p-story buildings, of the Hospital in Arles, France, the ever-changing flower sections are a tribute to its most famous patient, Vincent vanGogh. He was a patient in the hospital in December 1888 and again in January 1889. His presence was at the time he cut off his ear. He painted the scene two times while still a patient.
The buildings are now used as a small City Center. There are meeting rooms and a store, where they sell many vanGogh related books are objects. I bought several books myself during my visit.
I used my reference photos as the basis of this watercolor pencil painting. In addition, I found many other photos of the gardens at different times of the year. A visit to Arles is highly recommended for those who love the magnificent works of vanGogh!
