Description
The Liquidambar tree is the "Maple of the South," or so I think of it. It is actually an American gum tree, related to eucalyptus trees. We planted our trees in about 1987, so they are fully developed. All summer, they have thousands of green leaves which turn all shades of gold and red for an unbeatable fall display, where maple trees do not grow successfully. This tree was shot after an unusual night rain, early in the morning, before the the leaves and trunk dried out. I love pressing the leaves for fall decorations!
