Description
The next time you enjoy a crisp German Reisling wine, give a little toast to the vineyard workers who must climb up and down steep hills every day as they tend the vines. The Pfalzgrafenstein Castle, built by King Ludwig in the 14th century, was a former stronghold and was used as a toll station to extract money from river traffic passing through that area. It has been maintained very well and the bright colors lend majesty to the trip along the Rhine River. A Medieval Castle sits at the top of hill. Parts of that castle are available as Hotel rooms!
