Description
Eagle Lake is a very large lake at 5,300 feet elevation in north eastern California. There are dozens of pairs of grebes, as seen in the pair in foreground and in the distance, which keep boaters entertained with their constant chirping calling out to their mates. They are quite romantic and occasionally, one can see their lovely mating dance. They are similar to loons in look and in the fact that they are always close to their mate. The gray mist was rather unusual.
