Iris are not only gorgeous flowers but the word Iris is mythological. It is the name of the Greek Goddess Iris, which gave the genus its name. There are about 275 species of flowering plants with showy flowers within the Iris genus. It is an important flower for pollinating and the petals form a resting place for the bee, heading in and backing out of the flower to get its nectar. I have always loved the bearded Iris as I have seen it since childhood in gardens and in floral arrangements.
I have been taking pictures since I was young. I love the outdoors and enjoy taking landscape and botanical photos. With my lifelong interest in and study of interior design and architecture, I greatly enjoy taking pictures of buildings, interiors, and art. I have pursued my love of art and creation by making collages with many different themes. I am also interested in the Aboriginal arts of Australia, Pointillism, Dot Art, and watercolors. I have included some of my work in various Collections. I am a retired teacher, play golf, travel, camp, make jewelry, read, paint, make collages, and sew. Thank you for viewing my galleries.
